13, 000 Malaysian have died from AIDS. We can be the message to slow down and stop HIV/AIDS!
AIDSAware is a project to raise awareness on AIDS and also to collect 13,000 messages, in remembrance of the 13,000 people who have passed away from AIDS to date in Malaysia.
You can do your part by helping to spread this message in a very simple way.
HOW?
Take a photo of you with your own AIDS Aware message (remember to put in the url aidsware.ruumz.com). Or you can download the AIDSAware messages HERE (English, BM & Chinese)
WHY?
With the 13,000 messages collected, a wall of remembrance will be erected in a public space in KL. The printed photos will be displayed on the wall in order to share the AIDSAware messages with everyone!
WHEN?
This project goes on until we reach 13,000 photo messages, hopefully by World AIDS Day in December 2010. All you have to do is upload your messages into the "AIDS Aware Messages" photo album below. Click here to find out how to upload your photos.
By uploading your pictures on this site, you hereby agree that you allow them to be viewed by the public online, printed & shared. If anytime you feel unsure or would like to withdraw your message, they can and will be removed at your request.
*UPDATE* The Celebrity Photoshoot
Over a span of 4 days in June and July, some celebrities and personalities got together and contributed their time for free in support of AIDSAware. The shoots were done for free in studiopashe by Simon Chin, who's reputation in portrait photography is almost legendary among certain circles. These pictures will be used as Public Service Announcements in various places and forms leading up to World AIDS Day 2010, to create awareness and encourage as many people as possible to be a message to STOP AIDS. Watch out for it!

This project came about when ruumz & PTF was thinking of how awareness on HIV & AIDS, especially on prevention, discrimination and debunking myths and misunderstandings about the disease, can be created without any budget, by relying on on the Internet and a dedicated Social Charity Platform like ruumzcauses. How everyone can participate, messages can be created and passed without talking down to anyone, and through a guerilla, people driven approach. This is what came out, and it's still being refined everyday, to be a better campaign, to be more effective, and to hopefully change how we deal with issues by being the difference ourselves, rather than just relying on others and the Government alone. |

AIDSAware是一项旨在提升民众对爱滋病醒觉的运动。我们希望每一位支持这项醒觉运动的朋友都成为“AIDSAware讯息”，一起来暂缓并停止HIV/AIDS的蔓延。我们的目标是收集13,000个讯息，以提醒自己已经有13,000位大马人因为爱滋病而失去生命。
如何传达AIDSAware讯息？

2. 拍下你或友人拿着“讯息”的照片。
3. 加入hash (#) tag #AIDSAware，通过ruumz交友网络、facebook面子书、twitter微博传送照片twitpic……越出位的照片越好，总之把AIDSAware讯息传出去就对了！
4. 加入AIDSAware.ruumz.com，上载你的讯息照片到AIDSAware Messages以示支持！
